Industry Veteran Jill Black Joins Level Legal as Chief Marketing Officer

DALLAS – December 18, 2024 – Level Legal – the Dallas-based concierge forensics, eDiscovery, managed review, and consulting company – announced today the addition of Chief Marketing Officer Jill Black to its leadership team.

Jill brings more than 20 years of experience in the legal technology industry to her new role, where she will oversee and drive Level Legal’s go-to-market strategies and play a critical role in shaping the company’s brand, customer acquisition, engagement, and lead-generation efforts.

Before joining Level Legal, Black was the Chief Marketing Officer at Priori Legal, a leading legal technology platform for outside counsel decision-making, where she spearheaded an innovative market strategy centered on demand generation and brand awareness that helped the company achieve triple-digit revenue growth. Before Priori, Jill was a co-founder of Onit, established in 2009, and was responsible for growing the marketing function for over a decade. During her tenure, she was instrumental in building the company from its inception to $75M in annual revenue with 600+ employees and five acquisitions.

Black is an award-winning B2B marketing executive who has worked with several high-growth software companies such as DataCert (acquired by Wolters Kluwer) and Vignette (now OpenText). She has successfully earned recognition for these organizations, including multiple appearances on the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies, Deloitte Technology Fast 500, and Houston Business Journal Fast 100 lists and securing accolades like Forbes Best Startup (2021) and LegalWeek Leader in Tech.

Black was drawn to Level Legal for its distinctive culture and unwavering commitment to values like “delivering delight” and “showing respect.” As a seasoned marketer, she understands that delighting and respecting customers are cornerstones of success, making her transition to Level Legal a natural one.

“Jill has a proven track record of building brands, and we’re thrilled to have her vision and expertise at Level Legal,” said Level Legal CEO Joey Seeber. “Her leadership will not only help us continue to provide our law firm and corporate customers with lasting value but also amplify our message, showcasing the unique impact we deliver with delight.”

“I am thrilled to join the Level Legal team,” Black said. “At Level Legal, client satisfaction, trust, and commitment are at the forefront of everything we do. I’m excited to contribute to the continued growth of Level Legal’s holistic approach to legal services and to help deliver outstanding results that make legal services more human.”

Our Framework

Understand.

During this phase, we work to step away from any assumptions and guesses about what our customers needs, and let our research findings inform our decision-making. We learn more about our customers, their problems, wants, and needs, and the environment or context in which they will use the solution we offer.

Our Framework

Define.

During the Define phase, we analyze our research findings from the Understand phase and determine what is the most important problem to solve — and why. This step defines the goal. Then we can give a clear problem statement, describing what our customers’ needs are that we are trying to solve, making sure that we heard and defined their problem correctly.

Our Framework

Solve.

This phase is an important part of the discipline in our process. People often settle for the first solution, but the most obvious solution is often not the right one. During the Solve phase, we brainstorm collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to generate many unique solutions. We then analyze our potential solutions and make choices about which are the best to pursue based on learnings in the Understand phase.

Our Framework

Build & Test.

This phase is critical in developing the right solution to our customers’ problem. An organized approach to testing can help avoid rework and create exceptional outcomes. Starting small and testing the solution, we iterate quickly, before deploying solutions across the entire project.

Our Framework

Act.

During this phase, the hard work of prior phases comes to life in our customers’ best solution. The research, collaboration, and testing performed prior to project kick-off ensure optimal results.

Our Framework

Feedback.

At the project completion, we convene all stakeholders to discuss what went well, what could have been better, and how we might improve going forward. We call these meetings “Retrospectives,” and we perform them internally as a project team, and with our external customers. The Retrospective is one of the most powerful, meaningful tools in our framework.
